This is the female counterpart to the standard quarter-inch phone plug, in panel-mount form (sometimes called surface-mount). This means that it's designed to be mounted on the body of an instrument or the casing of an electronic component. Use this if you want to be able to connect your instrument using a standard musical instrument cable such as an electric guitar cord. The jack assembly fits a 3/8" hole drilled in the mounting surface, passing through a maximum surface thickness of 1/4", held in place by a special hex nut and washer (provided). Wiring instructions will be included with your order.
